Welcome Fall!

Time for a little change and some fall colors. The photo for the header is my own. The full photo is below. These photos were all taken last year. The leaves here are just on the verge of change. Happy Fall to All!

This is the little country church were Paul and I said our wedding vows again for our 25th anniversary in 2004. A lovely little country church.

The Swing!

I found this poem by Robert Louis Stevenson in a book I've been using for my art and I fell it love with it. I loved to swing when I was a child and this poem so sums up the feelings of childhood. My dad had made a swing set in our backyard and I'm sure many night that is where my mother would find me. I remember the cool breeze on my face and the wonderful sensation swinging would bring to my tummy. Oh to be young again!

Here is a picture of me in 1963 in our backyard swinging! That's my Mom & Dad in the background. I have no idea who would have taken this picture. Maybe my sister.

I've got a DATE tonight!

**UPDATE***

We really enjoyed the movie! The ending wasn't quite what I expected but it was good none the less. If you like westerns you will like this movie. If your a Russell Crowe or Christian Bale fan go see this movie. You won't be diappointed!

Paul had to work today but instead of working the normal 8 hours they are only working 5! So since he has a Saturday evening off we are going to the MOVIES! Hurrah. I've got a date! We are going to see 3:10 to Yuma with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. I love Russsll Crowe. He is one of my favorites and he's easy on the eyes! Gladiator is one of my favorite movies! I've also taken a liking Christian Bale too! I loved him in The Prestiage. Way back at the beginning of summer when we first saw this movie was coming out I asked Paul if he'd take me to see it and now he is! We both love westerns and I love cowboys and horses! I'll let you know tomorrow what I thought of it.

My Senior Pictures

Donna at A Quiet Life has been talking about Senior pictures lately and she has taken some lovely Senior pictures for some friends. Today she put up her Senior photo and I thought I'd do the same. Espeically since I've been showing Lori and her pictures lately. It seemed fair. I have two poses plus the drape.

Flintstone High School
Class of 1977

This was the photo in my yearbook. I liked it better then the drape one. I was just 16 years old in these photos. Since I have a late December birthday the photos were taken during the summer of 1976 and I didn't turn 17 until later that year in December.

My sister picked this pose because it showed my long hair. I cut my hair and had a perm right after this. Big mistake! I have since grown it long and cut it several times over the last 30 years. I tried a perm one more time in 1991. NEVER AGAIN! Me and body and curls just don't get along!

This is me today. A little heavier after three babies! This was taken during our 25th wedding anniversary.

A Very Lucky Shot!

Early this month over the Labor Day weekend I took these lucky shots! We were getting ready to go somewhere (Walmart?) and I was closing the back door and saw this beautiful butterfly around the morning glories. I thought to myself where is my camera. Oh great it was in our truck. So I had to run through the house and across the street to the truck and retreive the camera and then make it back to the yard. Well I made it and the butterfly was still there. Isn't it beautiful? Paul came down the stairs and asked me what I was doing? After he saw the photos he agreed I had to get the shot!

Lori's Senior Pictures

Our family has passed another milestone. Our youngest daughter, Lori, has had her senior pictures taken and we picked them up this week. Here she is:

She's a beauty if I don't say so myself. She cleans up pretty good!! Don't you think?

And finally we have a complete set of senior pictures to hang on our wall.

How my Blog got it's name!

I've been doing this blog for 1 1/2 years now. This post is number 227 and I know or at least I hope I have a few readers and some of you may never have read my very first post. My first post explained how my blog got it's name. So I thought I would post the reason again. Just for you readers.

"I chose the name "A Mother's Minute" because that is what my son named them. When he was little and would call for me, I would tell him "I'll be there in a minute." Well one day when he was older he asked "Is that a Mother's minute?". My minutes where usually 10 minutes or more. So it has been a joke around our house since then."

When I started this blog on February 2, 2006, I thought this is my minute to talk, chat, or inform someone somewhere about something so that's how "A Mother's Minute" got it's name. Thanks John!

New Colors for my Blog Layout

I LOVE Sunflowers! So I thought for the end of summer I would change my colors to reflect this. I hope you like it! I also added some new Sunflower graphics and a new picture for the header. The picture is from Land and Sea Images. You'll also find on the side bar a new song lyric and a new quote. A new song lyric has been added at the bottom of the site. It is still Rascal Flatts but I added the words to their song Stand. This song has meant a lot to Lori lately.

1st Day of September!

Today was a beautiful start to a nice three day weekend! A Happy Labor Day to everyone.

We worked in the backyard this morning. Triming, mowing the grass, and trying to get control of the morning glory and sunflowers!

Here are some lovely sunflowers! they made a quick and pretty flower arrangement.

Here is our patio from the back gate. See the morning glory? It just takes over! Everything! I think if we sat still long enough it would grow around us. But it is so pretty I hate to complain! Blessings to all. Have a safe and happy weekend.
